Sons of the Pioneers

Clockwise from bottom: Ken Lattimore, Ricky Boen, Gary LeMaster, Luthur Nallie, Mark Abbott and Randy Rudd.
The Sons of the Pioneers is a cowboy singing group founded in 1934 by Leonard Slye (better known by his later screen name Roy Rogers), with Tim Spencer and Bob Nolan. They were soon joined by others and became popular well into the 1950s.

The six members who made the Sons of the Pioneers famous in the late 1930s with their close-harmonied western style music were elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980.
Their best known hits includes:
Tumbling Tumbleweed & Cool Water.

Tumbling Tumbleweed is considered their 'signature song'.

The group is still in existence today and perform in Branson, MO at the "Sheperd of the Hills" and special events.

After the death of Dale Warren, Trail Boss for the Sons of the Pioneers for nearly 31 years, the group selected the next longest standing member to take over the reigns. The Trail Boss is Luther Nallie, a 40 year member. Helping him along the way is 25 year member, Gary LeMaster.

Today, the Sons of the Pioneers have six members; Ricky Boen, vocals, world champion fiddle player 1983; Gary LeMaster, vocals and lead guitar; Ken Lattimore, tenor vocals and great fiddle player; Luther Nallie, Trail Boss, baritone vocals; Randy Rudd, lead vocals and rounding out the group, Mark Abott, bass vocals and plays the upright bass. Together these six gentlemen are carrying on the great traditions in fine style that Roy, Tim and Bob started back in the 1930s. 2010 finds the Sons of the Pioneers celebrating their 76th year as a continuous on-going group. Congratulations!

Roy Rogers Cocktail

A Roy Rogers is a non-alcoholic cocktail made with cola (such as Coca Cola) and grenadine syrup, garnished with a maraschino cherry and sometimes an orange wedge. In recent years, both this name and the original "Roy Rogers" have given way to the term "grenadini." It is considered an acceptable cocktail drink for children (since there is no alcohol). For this reason, it may also be called a kiddie cocktail or simply a homemade Cherry Coke.

It was named for the cowboy actor and singer Roy Rogers.
