There was lots of food and we all had a chance to meet and visit with our honored guest stars and extra special guests on a more person level. This year marked our 26th Anniversary for our annual Roy Rogers Festival. The 2009 Roy Rogers Festival *Early-Bird Reception* proudly featured the many talents of festival regular, "Col. Bill Sanders". Col. Bill sang with much feeling and straight from the heart, as he performed each song. Roy and Dale's son-in-law, "Jon Patterson" (Dodie Rogers-Patterson's husband) mesmerized us last year with his musical talents and melodious voice. This year we heard lots more from Jon as he performed along with the other entertainers nightly. He's a great entertainer, with excellent showmanship! Jon performs with his band, back home in Alabama. We enjoyed the wonderful entertainment while getting acquainted with other Roy and Dale fans, and rekindling those friendships we established in previous years at the annual Roy Rogers Festival. It's never too early to saddle up your "Trigger" or "Buttermilk" and make plans for the *2010 Roy Rogers Festival*, June 2-5, 2010, Portsmouth, OH at the Ramada Inn. You don't want to miss the *2010 Early-Bird Reception*! Movie & TV Stars in Person!(Fans came and met some of their favorite Stage, Screen and Television actresses and/or actors.) Autographs and Photos with the Stars(Many festival fans used the memorable Roy Rogers Festival program and collected all of the Guest Stars, Special Guests and Entertainers' autographs. Then they had someone take pictures of them and their favorite guest stars. It was a special souvenir program from the *2009 Roy Rogers Festival*.) Western Movies On the Big Screen(We watched Roy & Trigger, Dale, Gabby, Pat Brady, the Sons of the Pioneers; plus some of your favorite B- Western Stars on the big screen in the mornings and afternoons.) A Roy Rogers Double Feature Event(The Roy Rogers Festival and the Portsmouth 8 Cinema proudly announced *A Roy Rogers Double-Feature Movie Extravaganza*. It was open to all Roy Rogers fans during the 2009 festival. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at 6:30pm, the Portsmouth 8 Cinema, in downtown Portsmouth, had a special showing of two Roy Rogers movies on one of their huge movie theatre screens.) ![]() Portsmouth 8 Cinema 1623 Chillicothe Street Portsmouth, OH 45662 740.355.3456 Directions for Thursday, below. Collectors & Dealer Memorabilia Room(Featuring a large selection of posters, lobby cards, stills, comics, films, video tapes, DVD's, toys, books, magazines, audio tapes & records, CD's, autographs & etc.) Great Entertainment(Great singing and musical entertainers performed for the 2009 Roy Rogers Festival. Local super-talents included our own "Col. Bill Sanders". "Jon Patterson", Dodie Rogers-Patterson's husband and Roy and Dale's son-in-law, astounded us with his fabulous musicial talents and wonderful voice, during the festival. "Dale Berry" entertained festival attendees with his favorite songs, "talked a little humor", and anything else he could think of. ![]() International multi-award winners, "KG and The Ranger" and our "Special Guest Musical Entertaineers", serenaded us with great western music throughout the festival. Other artists and musicians joined in the musicial entertainment and nighty jams for what was called "the festival to remember".) Hospitality Center with Great Food(Great food was in abundance all four evenings in the Hospitality Center. Many volunteers from the Roy Rogers- Dale Evans Collectors Association and thier friends provided the delicious food & desserts.) Luncheon with the StarsFriday, June 5, 2009 - Time: 1:00pm (A crowd of western fans joined our Guest Stars and Special Guests for a leisurely and scrumpious luncheon together. After a fine meal, many questions were asked of our Guest Stars & Special Guests. We shared some memorable and lasting moments with some of the best people ever!) *Western Music Concert in the Park*Friday, June 5, 2009 - Time: 3:00pm - 11:00pm "Calling all Cowboys, Cowgirls, Buckaroos and Buckarettes" (A huge crowd joined us for a *Free Concert In The Park*. It was an enjoyable time for the whole family. Our *Special Cookout* and *Western Music Concert* was located in Tracy Park, in Portsmouth. KG & The Ranger were headliners at the special performance, with Jon Patterson and Col. Bill Sanders joining them onstage. Other area performers performed onstage and entertain everyone. Costume ContestSaturday, June 6, 2009 - 1:00pm (Western fans came dressed in costume as their favorite western character out of the 'Old West' or a live or fictional character out of 'American History'. Prizes were given to the best character in the two catagories. A special panel of judges were selected for the contest. Results will be posted under the "Schedule of Events for Saturday, June 6, 2009.) Grand Banquet with the StarsScioto Room - June 6, 2009 - Time: 7:00pm (The banquet was filled with fans who were dressed in their best western duds. They shared in an elegant meal with the Guest Stars and Special Guests. All enjoyed the companionship of our Roy and Dale Extended Family Members during the 2009 Roy Rogers Festival. We had the pleasure of visitin' with alot of wonderful folks for a few days.) served by the fine folks at Damon's Grill, conveniently located in the River Inn Hotel. BY ![]() "KG and The Ranger" A Fresh Spin On Classic Cowboy Music KG and The Ranger performed a very Special Concert, directly following the Grand Banquet. A huge crowd was on hand to enjoy the fabulous talents of KG and The Ranger. Their stupendous yodeling in harmony is sure heaven. They brought back fond memories of the singing cowboys of the silver screen in their special performance. Auction Finale(Right after KG and Ranger Rick's performance, fans bided on some quality items. Proceeds from the auction went toward the Roy Rogers Scholarship Fund.) * Nightly Entertainment * Hospitality Center - Nighty ************************** Guest Stars arrives. Dealers begin arriving late afternoon and started setting up. * Festival Registration Room opens at 4:00pm. Pre-registration packets and tickets may be picked up. RRDECA Memberships were on sale. * Early Bird Reception: Hospitality Center - 8:00pm * (Hopefully all Guest Stars will have arrived by then.) Food & Entertainment at poolside. Entertainment: How lucky we are to have "Colonel Bill Sanders" with us. A special and multi-talented performer, "Jon Patterson" will have you singing right along as he performs his own unique style. He just happens to be Roy and Dale's son-in-law. Our friend, "Dale Berry" will be here to sing a few songs and entertain us. He may even tell us some "tall tales", oops, some humorous stories. Other area artists and musicians will drop by to entertain. ![]() Roy Rogers Festival because Roy Rogers and the Colonel were the best of friends and Colonel Bill has played for Roy in his living room in Apple Valley.
