Cowboy's Prayer
Oh Lord, I reckon I'm not much just by myself;
I fail to do a lot of things I ought to do,
But Lord when trails are steep and pass is high,
Help me ride it straight the whole way through,
And in the falling dusk I get the final call -
I do not care how many flowers they send -
Above all else the happiest trail will be for you to say to me,
"Lets Ride My Friend".
Amen

RememberingRoy
It's hard to believe it's been ten years since Roy Rogers rode away
But to his family, friends, and fans he's the King of the Cowboys yet today
The first time I saw Roy and Dale I was a child younger than ten
Little did I realize how they'd influence my life as I watched them in person
back then
Roy taught me to know right from wrong upon the silver screen
He did daring feats on Trigger like I had never seen
Then I saw him on The "Roy Rogers Show" on my TV set each week
He fought the bad guys, followed the law, and protected the vulnerable and
meek
Yes, I knew Roy as a cowboy lengend with his palomino and trademark white
hat
But though the years I've come to realize that Roy was much greater than that
He stood up for America and lived by a strict moral code
He believed in God and professed that belief in a way that was sincere and bold
He did not let fame and fortune change him, but remained humble all through
his life
He always found time to visit sick children in an effort to ease their suffering
and strife
Many of us have stories about him and lessons we learned from Roy
Or moments in our past when he brought us special joy
Although he has not walked on this earth now for really quite a while
Thoughts of him bring to our minds both a tear and a smile
In helping to keep his memory alive we can pledge to do our parts
For those who loved him Roy is not really gone - he lives within our hearts.
